I Ching
by Martin Burke

Keeping Still, Mountain

keeping still, keeping still

he goes out to the courtyard
but sees no one

the superior man does not let his thoughts
outdistance his situation

                             *

no blame, persevere

he does not move
but the heart, the heart is not glad

there is danger
and the heart suffers

no movement, no blame

his words are measured
no remorse

a noble heart
good fortune
