I Ching
by Martin Burke

Grace

the mountain and the clinging flame

grace will have success-
is this the time to cross the great water?

Fire at the base of the mountain
Is the image of grace
This is the way the superior man acts
But not in dealing with controversial matters

                             *

grace is given-
he leaves his carriage and walks

grace is given to the beard on his chin

his constancy brings good fortune

is this grace or simplicity?
he does not say
he courts at the appropriate moment

grace in the hills and grace in the garden
in the end there will be good fortune

simple, simplicity-
no blame
