I Ching
by Martin Burke

The Taming Power of the Small

gentle wind and creative heaven

the small can tame the great
this has success
there is no rain from the west

the wind comes from heaven
-the small taming the great-
and so the superior man
refines his outward self

                             *

return to the Way
how can there be blame in this?

This one allows himself to return

Spokes break in the wheel
Husband and wife separate

If you are sincere, if you are sincere
There will be no blame

Sincerity and loyalty-
You are rich

With rain comes rest
Character does this
And it is almost a full moon
So if the superior man should persist
-and this is also true for the woman-
misfortune will come
